Welds are one of the most important fasteners in engineering. In the vast majority of cases, they are the weak points that fail first. The verification of weld seams is carried out according to international, European and national regulations depending on the use of the weld seam: pressure vessels, offshore applications, wind power, energy sector, rail vehicles, mechanical engineering, steel construction, crane construction, etc.
The evaluation of weld seams is a challenge, even in modern simulation-driven product development.
Due to the special properties of the weld seams, complex computational methods are required to carry out the verification. This requires software products that are specially tailored to the detection methods.
Fully automated, compliant and thus verifiable (acceptance authority) weld seam checks are not available in any commercial software. The calculation engineers therefore have to carry out their design using complex manual or semi-automated methods.
Within the framework of this project, a software is to be created that carries out the verification in a fully automated and guideline-compliant manner and thus verifiable.
