Investigation and prediction of system reliability in the additive manufacturing using artificial intelligence (AI)

Additive manufacturing is considered a complex system in science. This means that its behavior cannot be predicted using computer simulations. For Fluid Deposit Modeling (FDM) 3D printers, there are numerous parameters and printing errors systematically collected by the SAM Research group. Subsequently, a sensitivity analysis is conducted. With this database, it is intended to predict printing errors in the future and thus avoid misprints. Current research projects include:

• Collection and quantification of influencing parameters and resulting print errors in the print process

• Testing and evaluation of sensitivity analysis for a suitable analysis of the print process to estimate the significance of the influencing parameters,

• Creation of a database, in order to efficiently train neural networks.
